I sure appreciate your animations; I'm having difficulty making my animated displays work as desired and these are a great help!

Your gear generators are useful for non-precision gears.

Excellent site. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the great explanations. Could you do a topic about hydraulic hammers? The ones fitted to diggers (instead of a bucket at the time of usage) using a pin to split rocks.
Briggs Baltzell 2015-03-01 10:17:13
Great animations! I'm looking for a rocker-bogie suspension system, complete with differential. I would make it myself, but I have no idea how. If you could post a rocker-bogie suspension, that would be awesome, and if you could also have a page saying how to use Flash to make these mechanisms, that would be even better.

animations are just interesting and marvelous. However i belong to hydraulics. can you please post an animation explaining working of Hydraulic proportional valves and servo valves.

Thank you for your site. Its really usefull for studying
Eric Bostwick 2014-12-13 08:58:41
Thank you for your excellent website. I really enjoy the illustrations. I was wondering if you could do an illustration for a propeller governor, particularly a McCauley constant speed propeller? I am an aspiring flight instructor and that would really help in explaining how a constant speed prop mechanism works. Thank you.

Dear Sir, I am a teacher in primary school(age between 11 and 15).I work on interactive table but I don't have the appropriate software.Your anymations would be perfect.I am very inovative teacher so I would like to ask you if there is a possibility to obtain some of the animations that interest me and that would be in the scope of education of new generations.Thank You, Teacher

Dear Toque, The short answer to your question is Yes. And I am proud being a Turk. However, in this ever shrinking planet we call home, I consider myself as an earthling. It is hard being an earthling and human at the same time considering the destruction our species doing our kind and other creatures on planet earth. Please watch the attached the movie earthling. Caution, it has some graphic contents which may disturb you.

I don't think so. It is well know concept. However there is a elliptical wood cutting jig made which is using this concept, it might have a patent.
Avi 2014-02-18 22:46:54
Very interesting mechanism. Is there a patent/copyright on the two slider ellipse drawing mechanism? I would like to use it for another application.

Dear Jason, Thank you for your nice comment. Yes, I learned from Keith Peters book a lot. One of my first animation is snake dot html where I mention his name in there.
Jason 2014-01-01 12:39:25
I have been fascinated by your site for several years. I was attracted initially by the scotch yoke. Finally I have begun using the free Flashdevelop software with the Apache Flex SDK to begin learning. An excellent book I have found is "Foundation ActionScript 3.0 Animation making things move" by Keith Peters. It is about much more than just moving sprites around the screen. It has topics on linkages, friction, trig, springs, and much more. The title doesn't do justice to the content which the reader is pleasantly surprised to find includes user-interaction and physics topics applicable to simulation, modeling and games.
admin 2014-01-01 12:00:29
First of all you should write your name so that I know whom I am talking with. Also my important animations such as Four Bar, Theo Jansen and Gear draw are interactive. So my intention is not fame. Also it is not important that someone created a YouTube video and posted it, it is easy to deal with. Real problem is that someone is stealing your program and decompiling it and using your hard work as though it is his own. Can you imagine that you are working on an animation a month than someone steals it and represent it as it as his own. Since he is not spending time in development just marketing, at the end you will never know that someone spend a month on it, and you think that the thief did it. Do you think that it is fair?
Guest 2014-01-01 09:40:48
Can you please make them interactive. Why does it even matter if people upload them to YouTube as their own, are you simply doing this for fame?

Dear Kirankumar Thank you for your feedback and valuable comment. I started doing thermodynamic cycles with cycle program and finding out that there was not much interest, and I stop working on it. As a matter of fact, it is doing some of what you are requested for ideal air processes. I will work on your requests, but this is one man show and it takes time to develop. So come back time to time to check it out. Best Regards :-)

I miss the interactive features now that they are screen captured. Very Very unfortunate. Can you offer a fee paying service so we can access interactive features?? Thanks Nick

Awesome on Breathtaking.... The only two words that come to my mind. I stayed awake all night just to browse the whole of this site. All the animations are fabulous. I love your work. With these animations it becomes so very easy to understand some very complex mechanisms. It made all those boring theories in the book so very interesting. And its all because of the ANIMATIONS. ( I am a student of Bachelor of Engineering 4th sem ) Thankyou.

Dear Rajendra, Thank you for nice comments. I think it is good idea to make animations about golden angle and golden ratio. Currently I am working on some hydraulic animations and it takes more time than I anticipated. As soon as I finish it I will do the animations you requested.
RAJENDRA NISAL 2010-09-09 05:40:19
I am sure you have a great mathamatical mind. I hereby request you to have some animated presentation to explain the concept of golden angle, golden ratio etc...for example the arrangement of oil seeds of sunflower at the center etc...this perticular principle is really difficult to persue for many.

This is a beautiful, beautiful website. I appreciate all the work that you have invested in these animations. Perhaps you could package these on a CD format with a small companion book. I think it would be a desirable item for schools and private individuals who are interested in mechanisms. Maybe Fisher-Technik would be interested in such a co-promotion.

Hi Frank, The Tchebicheff linkage animation use inverse kinematics. It is due to the programming animation breaks down. It is not intentional. Thanks visiting my site.

This is awesome! Are you a mechanical enginner? Can u design a reciprocating drilling or boring machine. Thanx

Delightful animations ! My personal interest is mechanisms for interesting features on a model railway layout display. tchebicheff seems to lose/change its contact position on red bar after a short while of playing. Is this intentional ?

Maybe show an anchor or deadbeat escapement, and Galileo's escapement, although this might be tricky because of the moving parts. It's worth a try seeing what's already been built, especially impressive is the Walshaerts valve gear.

Nicely done! Really nice job, especially the 4 bar link tool. Web page navigation and classification may be better but not a big deal.

Really cool stuff. It's been very helpful to me. I was just wondering where I can find TOGGLE MECHANISMS and RATCHET DRIVE MECHANISMS, do you have any? do you know where I can find animations like yours for these particular mechanisms?

Dave, I will convert sliders to numerical steppers so that you can fine tune lengths. I do not know any formula for 4-bar link. Thanks.
Dave Anderson 2008-11-13 00:02:31
Thanks for the 4-bar link tool. Very helpful to visulize synthesis of the links. Is there some formulas that go with this for help with my project? Could you make it easier to enter a specific link length?

It might be a good idea to add arrows to the gear pump and roots blowers to indicate the path of the liquid. I believe many people think that the liquid gets pulled into the meshing teeth instead of traveling in the outer cavities. So in the case of your

your 4 bar linkage one is amazing. Really helped me with my project. My suggestion is that you give an option to speed up and slow down the animation and also to change the direction with which the bars rotate nice1

Is sucker pump correct? You show the counter weight is lifted with the pump rod, I would have thought it would offset the pump rod. I think the connection to the next beam is from the middle of the counterweight, not from opposite side.

Linkage system uses inverse kinematics, which might cause these weird effect if you shake links rapidly.
Guest 2007-05-19 05:22:33
just letting you know, found something wierd in the peuculiieres cell, if you shake it up and down the line really quickly, you can break it apart!
